Really beautiful hand embroidery and lace insertion work on these Edwardian bloomers.
Antique ivory bloomers have an elaborate design worked in inserted cotton lace and hand stitched embroidery. The medallion at the centre of the oval in the design is worked on cotton organdie - delicate little violets in shadow embroidery, where part of the design is worked on the back and shows through the delicate fabric, then embroidered around. The inserted lace is all finished with spoke stitching. The bloomers are a full style and are gathered at the waist with elastic. I'm not sure whether the waist would have originally had elastic or a drawstring as there was nothing to draw them in at the top when I acquired them and I added the elastic. Custom made - 1910s.

- Waist measures 71 cm (28") unstretched. Stretches comfortably to 97 cm (38").
- Hips to 122 cm (48"). This is the stretched waist maximum, so that you can get them on. They will still be full at the hips as they measure 153 cm (60") at the hip, so plenty of sitting room.
- Waist to crotch at the front 47 cm (18.5")
- Waist to crotch at the back 53 cm (21")
- Inseam 20 cm (8")
- Leg width 29 cm (11.5")
